Robbinsville softball wins state opener

WALLINGTON — Robbinsville’s 12-year-old Little League softball all-stars scored five runs in the fifth inning to rally past Hammonton on Friday night, 8-6, in the opener of the state tournament.
Sophie Billings had three RBIs for Robbinsville, while Sara Motusesky and Megan Kratz had two each.
Kellie Hoffman and billings each tripled, while Riane Walsh and Chelsea Manto each had a double.
Motusesky went the distance in the circle for the win, throwing 107 pitches, 81 for strikes.
Robbinsville plays in the winners’ bracket final at 8 p.m. Saturday night against the winner between Pequannock and Rutherford.
