WW-P 15s fall late, will play early Sunday

SOUTH COLONIE, N.Y. – The West Windsor-Plainsboro 15-year olds got to bed late last night, but they’ll have to be up early today and re-focused if they want to continue their bid for the Middle Atlantic Regional Babe Ruth championship.
District One and Southern N.J. champ WW-P dropped its firstgame of the regional last night when it was routed by host South Colonie, 20-11, in a game that ended just before midnight and completed pool play in the regional.
By finishing second in Pool A with a 3-1 record manager Pat O’Brien’s boys will be matched against Pool B third place finisher Media, Pa. Sunday morning at 11 o’clock. If WW-P wins it will be back in action day at 4 p.m. to take on 4-0 Pool B winner Niskayuna, N.Y.
South Colonie, which went 4-0 in Pool A, plays at 7 p.m. tonight against the winner of the 1 p.m. game that pits North Syracuse, N.Y., the third qualifier from Pool A, against Piedmont, Del. the No. 2 finisher from Pool B.
WW-P, now 7-2 in all-star play, needs to win three games over two days to take the regional title and qualify for the Babe Ruth World Series in Van Buren, Ark., in two weeks.
Today’s winners play for the regional title at noon Monday.
